Project Description
Lapenillo
In the remote Lapenillo, once flourishing and lively, the traces of transience and beauty are profoundly present. Due to large-scale urbanization in the 1950s and 1960s, this picturesque Spanish village was abandoned, resulting in crumbling buildings and overgrown streets that embrace the memories of the past.
The baroque church from the 18th century, once the heart of the village, now reveals an impressive emptiness. In this tranquil, sacred space, decay and beauty meet, with classical columns and weathered walls showing the marks of time. Soft daylight filters through openings, illuminating the debris, while nature gradually reclaims the interior. Greenery, shadows, and silence create a unique atmosphere, where every detail tells a story of what once was.
